How Practical Ecology Started
Practical Ecology was founded in 2010 by Cyrise with a clear vision: to provide practical ecological advice that balances the aims of a development project with the needs of nature and biodiversity.
From the outset, the focus has been on combining sound ecological knowledge with a pragmatic understanding of the challenges faced by clients and their projects. That approach continues to shape Practical Ecology today — delivering thoughtful, workable solutions with nature at the heart of what we do.

Who We Work With
At Practical Ecology, we work with a diverse range of clients, from private landowners and farmers to developers, main contractors, local authorities, conservation organisations and community groups. We understand that every project and site is different, so we take a practical, collaborative approach to help our clients understand, protect and enhance the natural environment. Whether you are looking to manage land for biodiversity, meet ecological requirements for a development, improve biodiversity on your land, or deliver a community conservation project, we provide clear, practical ecological advice tailored to your needs.
